The ins and outs of library databases

Databases – huh? is a 20 minute Learn@the Library workshop which meets on Tuesday Sep. 21 and introduces you to the the basics of using the library’s databases. Databases are THE source of articles from magazines and journals; this is good stuff to know. Your professor expects you to use these information resources so come by on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Library’s Rosemary Rogers Research Center.

As a bonus  two Vol State t-shirts will be given away.

Why is that person important?

Who was Alexander Hamilton – the guy on the ten-dollar bill?  He helped develop the U. S. Constitution.  Read more about him in the Library’s trial database: Biography Reference Center — one that the Library is considering for purchase.  We have access through May24.

Hope you’ll do a little browsing in Biography Reference Center and compare it with what you find in Biography in Context.  Please post your impressions.

Off-Campus Access to Library’s E-Resources

When off-campus, Vol State students, faculty and staff can access databases and ebooks.  On the Resources web page, click on the material you want to search.  Enter your Vol State username, such as jasmith, and your Vol State password when requested.  This is the same username and password you enter to log into a computer in the Library or a computer lab.

Happy Searching!
